broomcloset ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Things that go bump You're all gonna love this: I was in another car accident today! Yes, really. ;) But don't worry, everyone is fine. Here's the scoop: I went to have coffee and hang out with a few new friends of mine today. Coffee went great. Then they offered to drive me home. On the way home, we get rear ended. Seriously, everyone is okay. Our necks hurt a bit, and we'll probably be sore tomorrow, but there were no major injuries, except to the other guy's car. My friends' car was in remarkably good shape, or at least it seemed so at first. The only external damage was that their rear bumper had been moved up an inch, but it was still fastened on quite tightly. (the other guy's car was not so good - his front hood was all bent up and the engine was making a very funny noise) Anyway, all seemed fine intil we went to drive away -- my friends' car wouldn't start. It wouldn't even turn over. The tow truck guy (who had come to pick up the other car originally) popped the hood and said he could see the battery still had juice, but couldn't see why the car wouldn't start. So both cars had to be towed. We also waited 40 minutes for a police car to get there. 40 minutes, and we were only a block away from a police station. !!! :) You'd think they'd just walk down and see us. We even told them on the phone (both times we called) that we were almost within spitting distance of the station. Anyway, they did show up, and it took them another ice age to get the paper work done and to allow us to leave. We sat in the middle of the road in rush hour traffic for 1.5 hours. *sigh* But hopefully all is well in Whoville. I'm still waiting to hear back from my friends to see how they are and how their car made out at the garage. I'm wondering if my friends (any of them!) will ever let me into their cars again! ______ And by the way: Happy Beltaine!!!
